The Cupra Ateca is a performance-oriented compact SUV, part of the the Cupra “sport” sub-brand of SEAT / Volkswagen Group. It combines the practicality of an SUV with more aggressive styling, sharper handling, and stronger powertrains.
The 4-wheel drive version (often labelled “4Drive” in Cupra / SEAT parlance) is for those who want extra traction and dynamic capability, especially in demanding conditions or spirited driving.
The Cupra Ateca 4Drive includes multiple driving modes (via Cupra Drive / driving profile) that adjust engine mapping, gearbox behaviour, steering feel, and damping (via DCC) to suit different conditions (e.g. sport, normal, off-road / snow). More rear-biased torque split (within limits) to enhance dynamics. In “off-road / slip” modes, the system becomes more forgiving, holding grip and distributing torque to maintain traction.
Because of the 4WD system, the car is more confidence-inspiring in adverse conditions: wet roads, slippery tarmac, light gravel, etc.
